Teen Assisted Equine Therapy

Equine Therapy is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions between patients and horses. Activities (such as grooming, feeding, haltering and leading a horse) that are supervised by a mental health professional, often with the support of a horse professional, help the patient develop needed skills and attributes, such as accountability, responsibility, self-confidence, problem-solving skills, and self-control.

Tupelo Hollow Counseling offers an experiential approach to counseling utilizing the farm and environment for adolescent females ages 12 - 22. TH provides equine, animal and environmental assisted psychotherapy as well as other forms of counseling/therapy.

Tupelo Hollow Counseling was founded by Lisa Doubleday, M.Ed., LADC1. Lisa earned her M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College.  She is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor and has been working in the field of addiction and behavioral health for 15 years. In 2014 Lisa received a certificate in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy through EAGALA (Equine-Assisted Growth and Learning Association).  Research has confirmed many equine therapy benefits. It can lower your blood pressure and heart rate, alleviate stress and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Equine therapy also helps people stuggling with addictions or mental illness. There are many life skills that horses can teach better than a person.  Please contact us for more information.
